Exploring the Beauty of Galle
🏰 Galle Fort
Galle's most well-known attraction is the Galle Fort. The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Portuguese explorers in the 16th century; it was later enlarged by the Dutch. Walking through the fort feels like stepping back in time with cobblestone streets, old churches, museums, cafes and boutique shops within the walls.
From walking along the top of the fort's walls, visitors can see spectacular views of the Indian Ocean; especially at sunset, the views are breathtaking.
